oFFERING PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL CARE TO THOUSANDS THROUGH LIFE-SAVINGS MEDICAL TREATMENTS.
In 2008, the Chifundo Rural Health Center was built on the campus of Ambassador International University located in Rufunsa District, Lusaka Province, Zambia. At first the center was expected to serve as a basic first aid clinic for the university students and staff. However, when the center was licensed to open in 2013, the community’s need for medical care became apparent. At the end of the center’s first month of operations, the medical center treated 250 patients. by the end of December, the center treated over 1,000 people a month. Gospelink has since built an addition to the medical facility which includes a functioning operating room, which opened in 2017.
The Mission
To be a strong provider of quality health services with a focus on patient health satisfaction while meeting their spiritual and psychological needs.
Caring for the sick is a powerful way to bear witness to Christ. The health center is known throughout the region for compassionate care and high medical standards. Currently, the medical center staff, including AIU students and graduates serve the community from inside the center as well as through medical outreaches. Since 2013, the center has treated over 227,000 people - all of whom heard the gospel message during their visit.
Dr Marjie Heier, the previous Chief Medical Officer, says that the most rewarding part of this ministry is being able to use medicine as a tool to share the gospel. In America, it is not easy to be open about Christianity in the medical field. However, in Zambia, the medical staff have the freedom to save lives - both physically and eternally.

How to get involved
Volunteers which have the proper credentials and licensing are welcome to assist the team in providing medical care and to provide training for the clinic staff.
Food containers and supplies from the USA are arranged periodically and funding is needed to support the delivery and distribution.
Funding to maintain health center operations is always needed. Additional funding will help to ensure equipment and tools are available and maintained and that staffing levels are sufficient.
There is a desire to see the health center become a level 1 hospital for the region. This will require a capital investment and is key to ensuring the graduating med students will be hired. This will also help it add a Nursing school in partnership with Ambassador International University. There is also a need to build additional housing units for the health center staff.
Special funds are needed to ensure that medicine no available or provided through the Ministry of Health can be purchased. Special funds also help to support agricultural programs to help relieve malnutrition in the surrounding community.
We are in search of a medical missionary that feels called to serve at Chifundo to assist in its operation and manage its steps to improve and grow.
