April 2025 AIU Newsletter
Equipping Africa’s next generation of spiritual leaders
Term Two Features Guest Lecturers!
Guest lecturers from the United States and Zambia pour into AIU’s students during the second academic term.
After a short break, we officially began our second term of classes on April 7. All of our students returned to campus safely, refreshed and encouraged to engage in another exciting term.
In term two, which runs through July, the majority of classes will feature guest teachers – both from Zambia and the United States. These courses are very intense, each lasting only days. We are so grateful for the ministry of these visiting professors and their dedication to pouring into the lives of our students! They each make many sacrifices – leaving the comfort of their homes and families – to educate Africa’s next generation of spiritual leaders.
We pray our students will, in turn, teach what they have learned to many others. As they soak in the wisdom our guest lecturers have to offer, we look forward to seeing them apply it to their real-life ministry.
Please join us in prayer for travel mercies as our guest lecturers travel to and from AIU.

Poultry House Expansion!
Construction is underway on a new poultry house for egg-laying chickens.
As we’ve often shared in our newsletters, AIU is seeking to becoming a fully self-sustaining campus. Our garden and poultry projects have enjoyed great success toward that end.
Our campus boasts a well-maintained poultry house for broiler chickens and a garden that utilizes irrigation systems, allowing it to produce year-round. We are so thankful for God’s grace in sustaining these initiatives, which are a tremendous blessing to the school. Both projects help us to significantly reduce the cost of the food we offer our students – much of the chicken we eat is raised on campus and the vegetables come straight from the garden.
This year, we are praising God for the addition of layer hens, which will help to provide eggs for AIU. Thanks to your generosity, we have begun construction of a poultry house for the layer hens. Our contractor is on site, and much work has already been done. The new poultry house will be 600 square meters (nearly 6,500 square feet) and include storage for poultry supplies in addition to housing for the chickens. We are so excited to see this project begin to materialize!
This is a huge step in achieving self-sustainability. Producing our own meat and eggs will lead to substantial cost savings for our campus cafeteria, which heavily relies on eggs for meal preparation. We also hope to generate revenue from the sale of excess produce, allowing us to expand even further. Additionally, our students will gain valuable skills in managing the project's commercial and operational aspects.
The included photos show some of the work that has been done so far, including the foundation box, and footings. Please pray with us as we seek the completion of this exciting project.
Ministry Teams Equip and Serve!
AIU’s SENT teams serve the community while giving students practical experience.
As the second term has begun, school ministry and S.E.N.T teams have also resumed their work. We are overjoyed to see the opportunities the Lord has given us to share the gospel with those around us. Our S.E.N.T program is an extension of AIU’s outreach department and allows staff and students to actively participate in evangelism with nearby public schools, churches, and villages.
Our ministry program has grown to include partnerships with seven local public schools and sixteen different local churches, where S.E.N.T. teams are engaged in evangelism and discipleship weekly. We are so thankful to be able to partner with these churches and schools to make Christ known in our community.
Serving in these ways not only benefits the surrounding villages, but it also encourages our ministry team. As our students interact with God’s Word and gain the skills necessary to disciple others, we often see transformation in their lives as well. Dedication to practically ministering to the lost is evidence of our students’ desire to serve the Lord, and it serves them well by giving them real-life ministry experience. Even as our students are being equipped for lifelong ministry, they can be faithful with the opportunities they have right now.
“I am thankful that AIU has given me the chance to be involved in its outreach program. We have seen many people come to believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. I look forward to God using me more and more to the glory of his name in reaching the lost with the gospel of salvation.”
Pray for our staff and students as they minister and serve others in our surrounding communities. Also, continue praying that many people would come to faith as our teams preach the gospel.
STaff Housing Construction!
New 3-bedroom staff house nears completion thanks to your generosity!
In our November newsletter, we reported that AIU continues to face challenges in providing staff housing. As we have brought more staff onto the team, this problem has continued to grow so that more than half of our staff do not currently have adequate accommodation.
Thank you for praying with us and for giving generously! We are now working toward the completion of a 3-bedroom house located in Compound 5 on our campus. Just a few more elements remain before we hope to have one of our staff members live move in. So far, windows and wiring have been installed, and plastering and door installation are underway. We plan to install flooring, kitchen cabinets, and plumbing very soon. This house will provide relief for staff members who have had inadequate accommodation until now. Thank you again for helping to undergird our staff as they in turn serve AIU’s students.
While our single employees live in cabins originally intended for students, many of them intend to get married soon, causing concern over how to accommodate their growing families on campus. Staff accommodation remains one of the most urgent challenges that our campus is facing, as we seek to support our staff in their ministry.
Would you prayerfully consider a financial gift to help meet the needs of AIU’s residential staff? Please pray that the Lord would provide and allow our staff to continue to serve faithfully at AIU..
STAFF SPOTLIGHT!
CHRISTOPHER AND DOROTHY MTONGA
Business Operations Manager
Christopher, who is originally from Eastern Zambia, first came on staff at AIU in 2018. An AIU alumnus (Class of 2014), he served for two years as procurement supervisor, before being promoted to business operations manager, a capacity in which he continues to serve today. His daily responsibilities include overseeing budgets, managing business operations, and supervising income-generating ventures aligned with AIU’s goal of self-sustainability. We are so grateful for Christopher’s dedication to his work.
“Serving at AIU in this role is a joy and a great privilege—it is an opportunity for me to practice godly stewardship while impacting future leaders both spiritually and economically. I am deeply thankful to God for the privilege to serve at AIU. It is a divine calling and a tremendous blessing. I enjoy the opportunity to integrate biblical principles into practical business initiatives, while equipping students with entrepreneurial skills for life after graduation. I have also learned the value of servant leadership, strategic planning, and the importance of aligning business goals with kingdom impact.”
Christopher hopes to see AIU become fully self-sustained, with well-established business projects that support both the institution and the broader community, all while helping students become financially independent leaders.
The Mtongas have been married since 2018, and God has blessed them with two children, Meshach (5) and Mikayla (1). Christopher describes Dorothy as a beautiful, God-fearing woman and a strong pillar in their home and ministry. She also faithfully serves as retail shops supervisor here at AIU. Together, the Mtongas desire to grow spiritually, walk faithfully with the Lord, and serve him diligently in every area of their lives.
Christopher is currently an AIU graduate student through our distance learning platform and is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business studies from a local university in Lusaka.
Please pray with Christopher and Dorothy for continued divine guidance, strength in work and studies, and grace to raise their children in the fear of the Lord.
STudent SPOTLIGHT!
LAMPIAO GENITO BAUTINO
Sophomore
Lampião Genito Bautino is an AIU sophomore from Mozambique. He was raised as an only child by his mother, who was not a Christian. But, by God’s grace, he heard the gospel of salvation and believed in Jesus. Now he has a heart to seek out others who are lost.
“I was saved in 2017 when someone preached the gospel to me. When I recognized that I was a sinner and Jesus died for my sins on the cross, I received Him as my Savior and Lord of my life. Each course I have taken at AIU has benefitted me a lot. For instance, I’ve studied who Jesus is and what He did, and I’ve learned how to know, interpret, teach, and apply Scriptures in my life. Studying at AIU is helping me in my spiritual growth.”
When he arrived on campus, Lampiao didn’t know how to read and interpret the Bible, much less teach it. Now he is growing in his competence as a teacher of God’s word, confident that it is the truth.
With the training he is receiving at AIU, Lampiao plans to teach the truth to those who are lost. In his home country of Mozambique, it is estimated that more than 3 million people live in areas untouched by the gospel. After graduation, Lampiao plans to put his training to use in serving the unreached people of Mozambique.
Thank you for your generosity that makes it possible for Lampiao to study and grow at AIU! He desires to be a faithful servant of the Lord. Please pray with him that he would finish his studies well and that the Lord would open ministry opportunities for him in Mozambique.
