Equipping Africa’s next generation of spiritual leaders
EQUIPPING the next Generation
AIU’s youth conference partners with local churches to train the next generation of disciple makers.
On July 18, AIU successfully hosted its second youth conference, bringing together young people from local churches with the goal of equipping them from God’s Word and helping them understand their calling as followers of Christ in today’s generation.
The event engaged youth from 17 local churches, with some participants travelling from as far as Chongwe, over 20 miles west of the campus. Attendance exceeded expectations, reflecting a growing desire among young people for biblical teaching, spiritual growth, and Christian fellowship.
The youth conference featured two guest speakers who delivered inspiring and challenging messages from God’s Word, encouraging attendees to remain faithful to Christ and to live out their calling with conviction and purpose.
The conference had two primary objectives:
To equip and empower young people through the faithful teaching of God’s Word.
To raise awareness of AIU’s mission to train and equip Christ-centered leaders for ministry and service.
“By God’s grace and mercy, our conference was a tremendous success. I am deeply grateful for how the Lord worked throughout the event. Many participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to worship together, enjoy meaningful fellowship with fellow believers, and receive sound biblical instruction. It was especially encouraging to hear many attendees request that we hold similar conferences on a regular basis. Their response reminds me that the conference had a significant impact on their spiritual lives and strengthened their desire to continue growing in their walk with Christ. To God alone be the glory.”
Encouraged by the overwhelming response, AIU plans to hold youth conferences twice each year, rotating the venue to reach more churches and communities. This initiative will enable the university to extend its ministry by equipping more young people with God’s Word, introducing a wider audience to AIU’s mission and values, and providing opportunities for prospective students to learn about the university’s academic and ministry programs.
The conference marked another significant milestone in AIU’s commitment to developing the next generation of Christian leaders. We thank God for His faithfulness and look forward to future conferences that will continue to inspire, equip, and challenge young people to serve Christ with purpose, passion, and biblical conviction.
A season of Grace
A look back at AIU’s second term of the year showcases the faithfulness of God and his people.
We thank and praise the Lord for his faithfulness throughout the second term of AIU’s academic year. On July 23, students officially concluded a productive and enriching academic term marked by spiritual growth, academic achievement, and God’s sustaining grace.
All of our resident students from Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique were present on campus throughout the term, and the Lord graciously protected and sustained the university community, allowing students and staff to enjoy a safe and fruitful learning environment.
Students are now wrapping up a three-week break, preparing for the start of the third academic term. While some students returned home, many – especially international students – remained on campus during the break. This is an opportunity for AIU students to serve in their local churches, putting into practice their ministry training.
Pray that our students will continue to serve faithfully wherever God has placed them and that these ministry experiences will strengthen their faith and prepare them for future Christian service. Also please pray that they will return to campus this weekend (August 14-15) refreshed, encouraged, and eager to continue growing in their knowledge of God’s Word.
We are especially grateful for the faithful service of our visiting professors from the United States, who taught many of our second-term courses. Their commitment to equipping Africa’s next generation of spiritual leaders has been a tremendous blessing to both the students and the university community. We thank God for granting them safe travels and for using their teaching ministry to enrich the academic and spiritual lives of our students.
BIBLICAL prophecy in today’s Church?
AIU scholars engage Scripture through thoughtful theological debate
As part of our commitment to fostering academic excellence and equipping students for effective biblical ministry, AIU’s Academic Success Centre is preparing to host the 2026 Theological Debate.
This year’s debate will examine the motion:
"The biblical gift of prophecy, particularly the foretelling of future events, continues to operate in the Church today."
Participants will present arguments either in support of or in opposition to the motion, drawing upon careful biblical exegesis, sound theological reasoning, historical theology, and scholarly research.
The debate has been designed to strengthen students’ understanding of Scripture, and develop critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive communication skills. It also seeks to cultivate respectful academic dialogue by encouraging participants to engage thoughtfully and graciously with differing theological perspectives.
Each class has been invited to nominate two student representatives. The debate will feature two teams, with each team comprising one representative from every class, creating an opportunity for students from different academic levels to collaborate and engage in meaningful theological discussion.
The Academic Success Centre is encouraging the entire AIU community to attend this exciting event and support the participants. The debate promises to be an enriching academic experience that will challenge students to think biblically, communicate effectively, and grow in their ability to defend the Christian faith with conviction, humility, and scholarly excellence.
Please pray with us that this would be a fruitful and encouraging time.
HEALING & HOPE FOR RUFUNSA
Chifundo Clinic is making gospel impact across Rufunsa District.
For more than thirteen years, Chifundo Clinic has been a beacon of hope in Rufunsa District, demonstrating Christ’s love through quality healthcare and gospel-centered ministry. Since becoming fully operational in 2013, the clinic has grown into one of the district’s leading healthcare facilities, serving AIU and the surrounding communities.
The clinic was originally established to address the urgent need for accessible healthcare. Before its construction, AIU staff, students, and nearby residents often had to travel two hours to receive medical care, creating significant challenges for vulnerable patients. Today, Chifundo Clinic provides essential healthcare services close to home, greatly improving access to medical treatment.
Each day, the clinic cares for an average of 50 patients, combining compassionate medical care with a commitment to sharing the hope of the gospel. Through the faithful ministry of its staff, many individuals have received both physical care and the opportunity to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
In partnership with AIU’s Outreach Department, the clinic also conducts regular community medical outreach programs that provide healthcare, health education, and gospel ministry to surrounding villages. These outreach efforts have touched thousands of lives and led many people to place their faith in Christ.
We praise God for His faithfulness and are grateful for all those whose generosity has sustained this ministry. Please continue to pray that God will provide for, protect, and strengthen the clinic as it continues bringing healing and the hope of the gospel to the people of Rufunsa District.

DANIEL TITO MANUEL
Freshman
AIU welcomes students from all across the continent of Africa to be trained for faithful ministry. Daniel Tito Manuel, a freshman from the Gondola District in Mozambique, is one of the new faces on campus this year.
The fourth of nine children, Daniel is grateful that his parents faithfully continue to encourage him in his walk with the Lord.
Although he grew up attending church, Daniel admits he never had a relationship with Christ in his early years. In fact, he struggled with rebellion, dishonesty, and stealing, and was heavily influenced by his peers. His life changed dramatically in 2021 after an incident God used to draw him to Himself.
While selling goods at the market, Daniel’s father caught him stealing some of the money. But instead of responding in anger, he lovingly pointed him to the gospel, explaining God’s call to repentance and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. That very day, Daniel repented of his sin and placed his faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.
“Before I was saved, I was a rebellious son who had learned dishonest habits from my friends. Since trusting Christ, however, my life has been completely transformed. I now desire to live according to God’s Word, allowing Scripture to shape my character, my decisions, and my daily life. My greatest desire is to follow God’s will and faithfully serve him.”
Daniel learned about AIU through a local Gospelink preacher, who encouraged him to pursue biblical training. Inspired by the faithful ministry of AIU graduates and the university’s commitment to teaching God’s Word with clarity and faithfulness, Daniel knew this was where he wanted to prepare for ministry.
After graduating, he desires to become a spiritual leader who proclaims God’s truth with integrity, helping others know Christ and grow in their faith.
Please pray that God will give him wisdom, strength, and perseverance to complete his studies. We thank God for his transforming grace in Daniel’s life and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use him to advance the gospel in Mozambique and beyond.
